VoiceShelf Community Guidelines
Version 2026-10-28 · Last updated: 28 October 2026
VoiceShelf is for stories in your own voice, shared with the people you choose. These guidelines are part of our Terms of Service. They apply to everything you create here: recordings, titles and captions, comments, the questions you send (Prompt Requests) and your bio.
Be kind, and be yourself
- No harassment or bullying. Don't target, demean or pile on anyone — in a recording, a comment or a question you send. Sending questions to someone who doesn't want them is harassment too.
- No threats or violence. Don't threaten anyone, encourage violence, or celebrate it.
- No hate. Don't attack people for who they are, including their race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, sex, gender, sexual orientation or age.
- No impersonation. Don't pretend to be another person or organisation.
Respect privacy and consent
- Ask before you record someone. If another person's voice is in your recording, have their permission to record it and to share it with the people you choose. Recording conversations without consent may also be against the law where you are.
- Think before you share someone's story. You can tell your own memories of other people; don't reveal things they would reasonably expect to stay private.
- No private information. Don't share anyone's address, phone number, email, financial or health details, or anything that could be used to find or harm them.
- Respect "who can listen". Don't re-record or republish other people's recordings outside VoiceShelf, or share them with people they weren't meant for.
Keep it safe
- No sexual content. VoiceShelf isn't for sexual material of any kind.
- No child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE). Nothing that harms children — no content that sexualises, endangers or exploits anyone under 18, including child sexual abuse material (CSAM). We remove it, keep evidence and report it to the authorities as the law requires.
- No illegal activity, and nothing that helps someone break the law or hurt themselves or others. That includes content that infringes someone's copyright or other rights, that you know is false and is meant to mislead, that contains malware, that promotes gambling or money laundering, or that threatens public order or the security of any country.
- No spam or scams. No advertising, repeated unwanted messages or questions, fake accounts, or attempts to get people's passwords, codes or money.
If someone is in danger right now, contact your local emergency services — VoiceShelf can't respond to emergencies.
Questions you send (Prompt Requests)
Ask questions in good faith. You can send questions only to people who follow you, and they decide whether to answer and who hears their answer. Don't use questions to pressure, harass or advertise, and don't ask the same person again and again.
Comments
Comments are seen by everyone who can hear the recording, with your username. Keep them on topic and respectful. A recording's owner can remove comments on it.
What you can do
- Report a recording, a comment, a profile or a question you received, from its ⋯ menu. Choose a reason; you can add details. The person you report isn't told who reported them.
- Block anyone. They can't see your profile or recordings, follow you or send you questions, and you won't see theirs. They aren't told.
- Remove a follower, or take someone out of your close-knit group, at any time.
- Delete your own recordings and comments, and comments on your recordings.
What we do
Reports are reviewed by us or by people we authorise to help with moderation, who may listen to a reported recording. We don't review content before it's posted and we don't monitor everything, so reports matter. When something breaks these guidelines we may remove it, suspend the account for a time, stop it from signing in, or close it, depending on how serious it is and whether it has happened before. Serious cases may be reported to the authorities.
If you think we made a mistake, write to safety@voiceshelf.app.
